The VSX-LX101 is compatible with 5.1.2ch and 5.2.2ch configuration of the latest theater sound platform, Dolby Atmos. You can reproduce object-oriented sound in smooth, curving movements, or the realistic three-dimensional movement overhead by the top speakers.
Image above shows 5.2.2 set-up. Other configurations available.
Room Requirements
Using the Dolby Atmos Enabled Speakers you will need the following in order to use the Dolby Atmos-enabled capability of these speakers, the listening room ceiling should have horizontal flat hard surface (for audio reflection) and a height of 8’ to 14’.
Equipment Requirements
In addition to a Dolby Atmos compatible speaker set up, you must have a Dolby Atmos compatible receiver/processor and Dolby Atmos encoded content.

Ultra HD (4K/60p/4:4:4/24-bit) Upscaling/Pass-Through with HDCP 2.2
The feature lets you take advantage of the highest-quality video source for viewing on a 4K TV. With support for HDCP 2.2, you can enjoy premium content such as 4K videos with digital copy protection on a compatible display. What’s more, the VSX-LX101 is ready for the HDR (High Dynamic Range) and BT.2020 next generation video standards.

MCACC® Auto Room Tuning
Create the optimum acoustic environment with Pioneer’s MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System), developed with the expertise of professional recording studios. With the custom microphone, the system automatically compensates for differences in speaker size, level and distance, and equalizes response.
Synchronized Sound with Phase Control®
As an innovative solution for the phase lag between the subwoofer and the main channel speakers caused by the network filter, Phase Control compensates the delayed bass to improve sound synchronization.
Reflex Optimizer
Reflex Optimizer layers MCACC for more accurate measurement when using enabled speakers. High directivity sound reflects off the ceiling, while low directivity sound directly reaches the ears. This difference causes a phase shift, making the sound feel uncomfortable. To solve this, the new technology optimizes the performance of your up-firing elevation speakers for your listening environment, by aligning the phase of direct and indirect sound, matching the basic tone, and optimizing the upward-oriented frequencies. The result is overall seamless sound with Dolby Atmos enabled speakers, allowing the ideal reproduction of three-dimensional surround sound.
Multi-room Audio Offers a Variety of Ways to Enjoy Music
The VSX-LX101 will support FireConnect™ Powered by Blackfire* with a future firmware update. FireConnect is a stable wireless protocol that streams audio from a compatible Pioneer AV Receiver to a compatible Pioneer wireless speaker**. Enjoy Bluetooth audio, front USB audio files and internet radio from the FireConnect compatible Pioneer AV receiver to an optional FireConnect compatible Pioneer wireless speaker(s)** located in another room(s).
* Multi-room Audio is realized by FireConnect technology. FireConnect is a technology of Blackfire Research Corp, USA. We cannot guarantee that the AV Receiver will support all devices incorporating FireConnect technology. Not all Fireconnect compatible devices work on all AV Receivers.
